Terms of Service

Agreement to these terms

By creating a Playbook account, or by using Playbook without one, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Playbook.

We may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and give additional notice in the app when a change materially affects you. Continuing to use Playbook after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Who may use Playbook

• You must be at least 13 years old and old enough under the law where you live to agree to these terms. Where a parent or guardian must consent, the account may only be used with that consent.
• The details you register with, including your name, date of birth, email address and phone number, must be accurate and kept up to date.
• One account per person. Do not create an account for someone else, share your account, or use an account after it has been suspended.
• If you use Playbook on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

What Playbook provides

Playbook is a community service for finding people to play with, joining squads, organising and attending activities, chatting with other members, and tracking your own participation through attendance, badges and experience points.

Playbook is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid features, we will show the price and the applicable terms before you buy anything.

We develop Playbook continuously. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn, and we may limit or suspend the service for maintenance, security or legal reasons.

Your account and its security

• Keep your password and verification codes private. Playbook will never ask you for them.
• You are responsible for what happens through your account, including the posts, messages, squads and activities created with it.
• Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has used your account. You can review recent sign-ins and sign out of all devices from your account settings.

Your content

You keep ownership of the posts, photos, videos, captions, comments and messages you publish on Playbook.

You grant Playbook a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display and show that content to the people your privacy settings allow, for the purpose of operating, supporting and promoting the service. The licence ends when the content is deleted, apart from copies held in backups for a limited period and shared records that other members still rely on.

You confirm that you hold the rights to everything you upload, including photographs of other people, and that it does not break the law or infringe anyone else's rights.

If you send us ideas or suggestions about Playbook, we may use them without obligation or payment to you.

Rules of the community

When you use Playbook, you must not:

• break any applicable law, or use Playbook for an unlawful purpose;
• harass, bully, threaten, stalk or discriminate against other members;
• post hateful, violent, sexually explicit or otherwise harmful content;
• impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, or claim to speak for Playbook;
• publish another person's personal details, photographs or location without their permission;
• send spam, chain messages, scams or unsolicited advertising;
• upload content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights;
• try to reach accounts, systems or data that are not yours, or probe, overload or interfere with the service;
• scrape, bulk-download or automate access to Playbook without our written permission;
• falsify attendance, activity participation, badges or experience points, including by sharing attendance QR codes with people who were not there;
• use Playbook to endanger a child or to contact one against their parent's or guardian's wishes.

Squads, activities and meeting offline

If you create a squad or an activity, you are responsible for the accuracy of what you publish, including the venue, time, cost, skill level and any rules, and for how you handle members, join requests and attendance.

Playbook helps you arrange to meet. The meeting itself is between you and the other participants. We do not verify members, supervise activities, inspect venues or provide any form of insurance.

Sport carries a risk of injury. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for judging whether an activity, a venue and your own fitness are suitable. Follow venue rules and local law, and use good judgement when meeting people you do not know.

Squads, activities, venues and members listed on Playbook are not vetted or endorsed by us.

Reporting and enforcement

You can report posts, comments, squads and members from inside the app. We review reports and may also act on other signals of abuse.

Where these terms are broken, we may remove content, hide or deactivate a squad or activity, limit features, or suspend or terminate an account. Serious cases, including a risk to someone's safety, may be reported to the authorities.

If you believe we have acted in error, contact us and we will look at the decision again.

Third-party services

Playbook relies on services we do not control, including Google and Facebook sign-in, OpenStreetMap for maps and place search, Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention, and email and SMS delivery providers. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

If you installed Playbook from an app store, that store's terms also apply to the installation. The store is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the service.

Privacy

What personal data Playbook collects, how it is used and shared, how long it is kept and the choices you have are described in our Privacy policy, which forms part of this agreement.

Ending your use of Playbook

You can stop using Playbook at any time and delete your account from the app. See Account deletion for what deletion removes and what may be retained.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, creates a risk to other members or to the service, or remains unverified. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends, including content licences for copies already shared, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, remain in force.

Disclaimers

Playbook is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that member content is accurate, or that you will find suitable partners or activities.

We do not verify the identity, background, skill level or conduct of members. Your interactions with other members are your own responsibility.

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Playbook is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for loss of profits, data or goodwill, or for injury, loss or damage arising out of an activity or meeting arranged through the service or the conduct of another member.

Our total liability for all claims relating to Playbook is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim and RM 100.

Your responsibility to us

You agree to cover Playbook against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from content you publish, activities you organise, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not affect mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of the country where you live.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter with you directly.

General

• If part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
• If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up.
• You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours as part of a business transfer, with your rights preserved.
• These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and Playbook for the service.
• These terms are published in English, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, French, Spanish and German. If the versions conflict, the English version applies.
